When unexpected contamination occurs, what’s your preferred incident communication strategy internally and with regulators/customers?

Open, quick and structured communication has always worked best for me. Internally, I prefer a “clear facts first” approach: confirm what we know, what we don’t know yet, and who is doing what. A short internal briefing (email for example) usually helps stop rumours and keeps everyone focused on the same priorities.
With regulators and customers, I aim for early transparency without speculation. Share verified information only, outline the immediate controls taken (for example, product on hold, traceability check, initial risk assessment), and keep communication frequent even if updates are small. People lose confidence when they feel you’re hiding something or delaying.
Most incidents calm down quickly when communication is consistent, honest, and backed by a clear action plan. Hopw this helps.
