What training would you suggest/recommend for charity fundraising groups who sell home-made bakes (as volunteers)?

Hi Steph! We love supporting charities and churches don't we and I know you do a lot of such work with them. A Level 2 HACCP & Food Safety course works really well. It's generally just over half a day of training for them and they all get a certificate as well as the enjoyment of the training itself.

An interesting and related topic is whether such charities need to register as a food business... and great guidance an be found here: https://www.food.gov.uk/safety-hygiene/providing-food-at-community-and-charity-events. I would say the most relevant section to quote from this page is here, "If the food activity is very limited and infrequent, the local authority may decide that registration is not needed. However, the food you provide should still be safe to eat and we recommend you follow food safety and hygiene best-practices. If you are unsure if you need to register or require further advice, please contact your local authority..."

Back to training though, as long as the training is local to our trainers - or delivered virtually, STC (with the amazing support of Stephanie Stannard) provides this to Charities at no charge.

Thank you @Cathy Gladwin, this is really useful. Community, especially in rural areas, is a vital lifeline for many. All that we can do to support such work is so greatly appreciated.
