We’ve seen a massive shift in the UK towards X-Ray inspection systems, especially for high-density products or those in foil packaging. However, metal detectors are still the 'old reliable' for many lines.

I’m curious about the community's experience with the 'grey areas' of foreign body detection.

  • Have you found that X-Ray is worth the investment for detecting non-metallic risks like glass, bone, or hard plastics?
  • Or do you find that a well-calibrated metal detector combined with a robust 'Blue Plastic' policy is still the most cost-effective 'hurdle'?
What’s your 'gold standard' setup for a high-speed production line?
