How do you deal with audit findings you don’t agree with? How do you challenge them using evidence while keeping the discussion professional and positive with the auditor?

I feel there must be a good balance between being professional and make sure you are staying consistent with what you are raising, especially if you feel that you are right. I am always open to a good healthy debate and always encourage auditees to prove me that I am wrong, where sometimes they do which is great as I can then remove the non conformance. But most of the time explaining with proper examples makes it more meaningful and essenstialy they accepting it. However there are still people that won't accept that they're wrong.

I recently had an audit where a certificate wasn't on file. I found it on the internet and showed the auditor.
He still gave me a minor and put that it was rectified during the audit.
Why did I spend time during the audit looking for something he was going to fail me on anyway.

Hi @Mark Baker, totally get your frustration! Though to be completely fair to the auditor they were following the audit protocol since the audit is a reflection of their findings of the site at the time of the audit. Going beyond the protocol though, it has become standard to flex a little and perhaps let one or two minor issues go if corrected on the day and if deemed insignificant but then some sites take that as setting the precedent for the rest of the audit and for future audits. Still, it's cool you were able to sort that one out so quickly during the audit Mark.
