What are the most effective ways to train staff on allergen control and awareness?

The best way to train staff on allergen control is by combining hands-on training with clear communication. Regular sessions where you cover the basics, like understanding allergens, avoiding cross-contamination, and proper cleaning, work really well. Real-life examples or case studies make it more relatable for the team. Visual reminders, like posters or checklists, are also a good idea to keep allergen awareness top of mind. Don't forget about refresher courses and quick quizzes to keep everyone on track! And it’s important to monitor their understanding to make sure the procedures are being followed.

Again, a very clear answer to the question posed.
I always recommend this is part of the annual refresher training and that the posters are displayed around the site and especially in the staff canteen.

Quick update on this topic, I found our allergen poster and thought this is probably the best place to share it. Now the FSA has a lot of free downloads too but they tend to be individual icons for allergens, this is just a simple infograph of the allergens in one place so I hope it's useful!
