How do you effectively train staff when they have limited time to be released from their operational duties?

Training staff with limited time can be tricky, but it’s possible. Try microlearning with short, focused lessons they can do during quieter periods. On-the-job training is great too: let them learn while working alongside someone experienced.

If you’ve got access to online training, use mobile-friendly modules that staff can do during downtime. Visual aids like posters or videos work well for quick reminders too. You could also cross-train staff to keep things fresh and relevant to their role.

If needed, organise overtime for training sessions or use shift handovers to fit in short team briefings. Keep it flexible and spread out, so it’s not too disruptive. It’s all about making training part of the routine!

Absolutely! Is worth to remember that investing time in proper training upfront pays off in the long run. Well-trained employees are more productive, make fewer mistakes, and require less supervision, ultimately saving time and resources. By incorporating training into daily routines and using flexible methods like microlearning as @Marzena STC & QTC mentioned, you’re setting your team up for success while minimising disruptions. A little time spent now leads to smoother operations and greater efficiency in the future!

Time management and time allocation are incredibly important - the benefits of training are visible in those companies who invest in this.
The key here is to use that time to its maximum and to find innovative ways to embed the messages from these sessions - add vibrancy! Whether this is in colourful posters, interactive boosting sessions or using technology to support this (think of the need to read screens when you are waiting----- we instinctively read a monitor when passing one) and these can embed training messages subliminally!!
