Our training options…
- Onsite (delivered at your site),
- Virtual/Open through Zoom or Teams (we use Zoom),
- Classroom (we have various locations in the UK),
- In-house (can be delivered onsite or virtually specifically for your team only),
- Hybrid Training (some attendees are physically in a room and the rest join virtually via Zoom)
The aim of this video and article is to bring some clarity to the various methods of course delivery, because sometimes these words are used interchangeably – which can be really confusing.
For example, let’s discuss two kinds of course attendee: Fred’s Food Factory and Joe who’s an individual.
Ask yourself the question: Who is this course for? If it’s specifically for your business, then it’s “in-house”, but if it’s for an individual, then it would be an open/virtual course that the individual would attend.
Our open/virtual courses are available to everybody and the course calendar can be viewed here.
Example 1:
Let’s go back to Fred’s Food Factory…
They have the most options available to them. They can book an in-house course that’s only for their staff. They pick the date, they pick the method of delivery and typically we need a minimum of 8+ attendees to agree a course date for this business. In terms of the method of the delivery they could ask, “Could the trainer please come to us?” or they could say, “We want the flexibility of Zoom so our attendees can attend from home and they’re not disturbed by work”, or they could say “We actually want to send our people off site to a classroom, so that they are completely focussed on the course”. We have classrooms around the UK and are pleased to arrange this for businesses.
They in fact, Fred’s Food Factory could also send their staff on an open course as they might not have eight attendees. This happens quite often, where a business might have one or any number less than 8, who they need to send on a course. Then they can of course look at our published calendar and send their staff on any of those courses.
Example 2:
Let’s go back to Joe…
Joe can’t attend the in-house virtual course. Joe also can’t just show up onsite at the Fred’s Food Factory so these two options are out of the picture for Joe. However, Joe can look at our published open course calendar and if Joe doesn’t see what he needs, then of course he can contact us and and ask us for what he needs.
Example 3:
When we deliver training in the classroom, then hybrid is another term that could mean almost anything… for us it means that in the classroom, attendees will be there face to face with the trainer AND there are also participants attending virtually via Zoom on the screen, in that classroom. It works, we have cameras pointed in the right directions and excellent sound so we can all hear each other 🙂
To conclude, we hope not only that the terminology has been clarified, but also that you can see the variety of options that the STC Academy can bring to you. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you’d like to discuss your training requirements, either personally for yourself or for your business.
